What Pinterest Can Do For Your Business

What can Pinterest do for YOUR business?

Have you been hearing constant ravings from businesses using Pinterest but not really sure how it can help yours or if its even worth it? If you have an online business its pretty certain that Pinterest can help it!

The first thing you need to understand is that Pinterest is incredibly different to other platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Users on Pinterest are actively searching for something - content, information, services and products - rather than mindlessly scrolling or simply “looking to see what others are doing”. They have specific interests and are shown content related to it, meaning that what they are seeing when scrolling through Pinterest is very likely to be something they would click-through to find out about.

You don’t need to be following anyone to see their content, you get shown it because of the keywords you search and the keywords businesses and website are using on the pins. It’s like a match made in heaven! This is probably my most favorite thing about Pinterest - you don’t need a huge amount of followers to get a mass amount of traffic to your site. If you use the right keywords in your profile, on your pins and design pins that make people want more - you’ll get the traffic.

That’s really what Pinterest does - it gets you lots of traffic. Many get confused by how this converts to actual money though but if we make the right connections its actually pretty simple. Here are a few examples:

Product-based businesses on Pinterest:

The Pinterest user who is interested in and actively searching for something like “dog collars” will type this into the search bar on Pinterest. Since you’ve created a keyword rich profile (or hired someone highly experienced to do it for you😉) your dog collar products are going to show up in the searches. The Pinterest user will be attracted to your appealing pin design and will click to your website and purchase.

Service-based businesses on Pinterest:

You’re a coach or wedding photographer or Virtual Assistant and sell services just like me. My strategy is to share my knowledge in my field and position myself as an expert through blog posts just like this. As a photographer you’d showcase your best photos on the platform. A Pinterest user who is looking to learn more or is interested in Pinterest Marketing will find my pins and click-through to my website. They’ll find out how awesome we are and that we are professionals in our field, and they’ll definitely want to inquire about our services or buy our courses! 🎉

Other Ways of Making Money on Pinterest:

The best way to convert courses, sell affiliate products or get Pinterest users to opt in to your email list is through FREE content. This could be a blog post or freebie download. Remember that the traffic coming to you is cold traffic and they won’t know or trust you. You’ll need to do a little convincing at first by showcasing what an expert you are, or giving them a little taste of what you can bring into their life through a freebie.

It really that easy! Stuck with what to blog about or have no free content? Are you already building your business on another platform like Instagram or Facebook - check out this post on how to convert your existing content for Pinterest!
